CiteSmart interfaces with both Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word and bridges the two to make reference management quick as a click. You simply:- Write in Word, select the keywords you would normally enter into a PubMed query, and then on the CiteSmart/Word ToolBar, click
- Internet Explorer will automatically open with the relevant PubMed results.
- Find the one(s) you want and click
in IE. The reference(s) will be instantly inserted into your Word document and added to your database of references within CiteSmart!
RefClick and RefDrag: Smart Bibliography!
in Internet Explorer, the associated reference will be sent to CiteSmart (but unlike CiteClick, it won't be inserted into your word document). This way, you can load many references, easily, populate your library with one click and save interesting references for later use (while doing your regular bibliographic work).RefDragTM adds one layer of flexibility to CiteSmart. While CiteClickTM and RefClickTM are available with Internet Explorer only, RefDragTM works with any web browser. This function allows you to drag a reference displayed as a link, after a PubMed search to CiteSmart window. This will download the reference and add it to your library in CiteSmart directly.

- Attach a file to a reference (pdf, doc, image etc...) by dragging a document and drop it on a reference.
- Automatic handling of 'in press' references. CiteSmart will know if a reference is in press and will add a mention in the bibliography (i.e. in press, customizable with style utilities). You can later ask CiteSmart to update 'in press' references from the menu command 'Update in press reference'.
