CiteClick & RefClick: A Breakthrough in Reference Management Technology!

The CiteClick and RefClick technologies provide a bridge between web content and word documents. At this time three browsers are supported: Microsoft Internet Explorer (6+), Mozilla Firefox (3+) and Flock (2+). The user will be able to automatically insert references to online content (i.e. PubMed references, social bookmarks etc...) into not only  a Word document but also a  library directly from various webpage including PubMed, Connotea, BibSonomy, Google Books, Ovid SP- Medline (and the list will keep expanding). Read more about web integration...

CiteClick: Inserts the reference directly into the active Word document and also into "My References" of your library. With this function you can cite references in a document directly from the Internet Explorer browser. CiteSmart takes care of adding the reference to your library (only if the reference is not already there).

RefClick: Inserts the reference into "My References". This function allow you to efficiently and easily populate your library while performing your usual bibliographic work on Medline.

To use these technologies proceed as follows:

1- Start Microsoft Word. If you use FireFox or Flock, make sure you have installed the CiteSmart extension. You can start FireFox/Flock before or after CiteSmart (unlike IE it doesn't matter).

2- Start CiteSmart. If you use IE, we recommend to start it using the CiteSmart toolbar button with the IE icon IE icon.

3- Search PubMed either from within Word (using the Word toolbar) or from the browser window.

4- CiteSmart will automatically reformat any webpage with such links by adding the CiteClick and RefClick buttons (screenshot shown below). If these buttons do not appear, the "Refresh Connection with IE" option should be chosen from the CiteSmart toolbar or from the Toolbox menu. Reload the IE window and the buttons should now appear.

Additionally on the results page, you should see a graphic showing that the webpage has been modified with CiteSmart (top right).
