Library
Content
The
library content is
displayed in the form of a list. By default, the fields that are
displayed
for each reference are: Author, Year and Title of Publication. The
displayed
fields can be customized from the Preferences menu. From the CiteSmart
Edit
menu, go to "Preferences" and click "Table
Panel".
The
library content panel
accept several Drag and Drop operations: drag a link (from a web
browser, the
corresponding reference in PubMed will be added to the library), drag a
file
like a PDF (the file will be added to the reference on which it is
dropped).

operations in

Right
clicking on a
reference(s) will bring up a context menu. The options are also found
in the
Library menu. The options are self explanatory. If multiple references
are
selected:
- "Apply
Label" will apply the label to all selected references.
- "Edit"
will edit the first reference.
- "Remove
Label" will remove the label to all selected references
that have this label.
- "Delete"
will delete all selected references after confirmation. If you want to
bypass the confirmation
press "shift + del" (be cautious as references are deleted permanently).
- "Mark"will
mark all selected references. They will then be accessible under the
Marked category.
- "Unmark"will
unmark all selected references.
- "Open
URL" will open the URL of the first selected reference.
- "View
Linked File" will open the file of the first selected
reference (or do nothing if the first selected reference has no linked
file).
- "Rename
Linked File"
will rename / move a file linked to a record and maintain the record
integrity.
This means that the file corresponding to the reference will be found
by CiteSmart.
If you rename the file outside of CiteSmart, the library won't be
updated and the file corresponding to the reference won't be found.
- "Remove
Linked File" will unlink the file and the first selected
reference (or do nothing if the first selected reference has no linked
file). Note that the file is not deleted.

Double
click on a reference to
open the Edit window. The user can modify the reference as needed. If
multiple references are selected, only the first one will be
edited.

To
link a file (such as a PDF)
to a reference, click on the "More" button
in the Edit
window or scroll to the bottom of the Edit window. Then double click on
“Linked File” (or in its text box) to open a Browse window and
choose a file to link. The file can either be viewed by using the
"View Linked File" from the right click
context menu of a
reference. The same thing can be done through the Library menu by using
the
"Link Reference to a File" option followed
by the
"View Linked File" option. Note that it is
possible to Drag
a File to a reference. CiteSmart will link the file to the reference
automatically (as long as it is not a style file or a library file).
